OpenFPGA Steering Group Meeting - February 14, 2006

OpenFPGA Steering Group Meeting

Participating: OSC, SGI, Mitrion, University of Manchester, George Washington University, ZIB, University of Cincinnati, Sandia National Lab, Nallatech

Information was shared on the recent successful FPGA meeting in Manchester. Approximately 80 participants.

Action items were reviewed related to such items as shared working areas for document preparation, openness of email archives, working group administrative information, posting FPGA tutorial content to OpenFPGA website etc. Most items were completed.

Information was shared about a virtual High Performance Reconfigurable Computing R/D center in development with U of Florida and George Washington University. Open FPGA would likely have a role in that center.

Organizational details – a business plan has been developed as a step to setting up the OpenFPGA organization. Bylaws are in development.
Comments needed ASAP.

A membership database is in preparation. Eventually the resource will be available on line for specific uses.

Working group updates – meeting of working group leads was productive to share information. Most information now shared. Challenge by most is amount of time and need for solid objectives. Most working groups are in assessment stage.

A new website has been designed for OpenFPGA and will be debuted shortly.

A strategic plan will be developed for OpenFPGA. Input will be sought.
