OpenFPGA Steering Group Meeting - August 2, 2005 Attending: HPTi, OSC, SRC, U of Cincinnai, Nallatech, U of Manchester, Starbridge, Mitrion, ZIB, U of Toledo, Koan Corparation Review of action items: Participation in MAPLD meeting in September – to be clarified Discussion in the early stages of the meeting was centered around the appropriate amount for user fees to participate in OpenFPGA. Multiple opinions were expressed regarding appropriate amounts for organizations and individuals and associated participation with the user fees. The collective realization is that a budget for the objective was needed and that should drive the user fee level. The first objective is a clarification of user needs for a common software programming interface for the FPGA systems. It was agreed that vendor participants should contribute $500 each to participate and non-commercial participants would pay no fee. A leader was asked and accepted to lead the first OpenFPGA working group on defining user needs for the programming interface. All agreed online surveys and a strawman API would be useful tools to clarify user needs. The assignment was made to draft the abstract for the working group. Meeting adjourned. |
