OpenFPGA Steering Group Meeting - April 26, 2005

Participating organizations included:
Mitrion, SGI, OSC, NIST, University of Cincinnati, Nallatech, NCSA, Starbridge, GE, ZIB

Action items from prior meeting were reviewed.
Summary of prior meeting was acceptable for posting on OpenFPGA website.
An update of the recent OpenFPGA survey was provided.
A quick update of the call-in specific for organizational structure was provided.

The first portion of the meeting concentrated on reviewing implications of FPGA interest survey. All areas were important (ranked between 1 and
2) with the exception of the liaison function to other professional groups (ranked between 2 and 3).

A follow-up survey focusing on technical interests and issues was recommended.

The current direction for an emerging organization structure was supported by participants. An interim structure will be used currently and emerge to a sustaining structure involving industry, academia and government interests across the globe.
Logistical support for shared working areas was offered from OSC and well received.

In the interim period, forums will be established on topical areas centered around objectives. These forum threads will be initiated and developed by steering board members. The forums will provide a basis for future community working groups.

Future events will be used to promote community participation in OpenFPGA.

A future face to face steering board meeting is desired either at a convenient location or piggy-backing on an existing event. Discussion will continue through email

Suggestions were made to include calendar of events on RC computing on the OpenFPGA website.

Action items were detailed.
