OpenFPGA Steering Group - April 12, 2005

The second call-in steering group meeting was held on April 12, 2005.

Organizations represented on the call were:
Mitrion, Cray, SGI, NIST, U of South Carolina, Sandia National Labs, OSC, U of Cincinnati, Nallatech, U of Manchester, GE Global Research, NASA, NCSA, Starbridge Systems and Koan Corporation.

The meeting objectives were to:

- review action items from the first meeting
- discuss mission and objective statements
- discuss organizational structures
- identify next action items

The steering group voiced no concerns with the posting of the minutes summary (which is available at this site).

The steering group also favorably commented on the mission and objectives statements with some minor additions. (mission and objective statements are posted at this site).

Input was provided on improvements to the FPGA interest survey, including determining interest areas for applications employing FPGA technology.

The steering group reviewed an overview of possible organizational structures weighted towards vendor participation and weighted towards academic participation. The group concluded that a blend is needed, conceptually similar to efforts such as the MPI forum.

A special meeting to discuss candidate organizational structure was requested.
Action items were reviewed.

Meeting adjourned.
